Overview FAQ

What is ShopNearBuy?

It’s an on-line service which allows consumers order items from a wide range of various retailers nearby in your area.
It’s a new sales channel for retailers to sell their items on-line. If they do not currently have the ability to sell on-line this will now open the door to selling their items on-line on a 24 x 7 basis.
The consumers will find it easier to have a single common way of placing orders across different stores.
It will be promoted across the community with a view to build awareness and allow consumers to support local retailers by buying locally.
It includes an optional same-day delivery service so consumers will receive delivery much faster – within hours of placing their order.
It does for retailers what the website booking.com does for hotels and guest-houses.

What is the purpose of ShopNearBuy?

To promote the use of local retailers instead of using on-line retailers who are located outside of your area or even outside your country.
To encourage a local retail ecosystem / self-supporting bubble
To empower local retailers with eCommerce capabilities if they do not already have such ability to now sell on-line on a 24 x 7 basis.
To allow retailers harness the power of same-day delivery which should increase the level of purchasing done on-line and locally.
To develop a stronger local community and allow it function far better in the event of another Covid type challenge where travel is restricted and consumers may feel isolated.

Is ShopNearBuy providing retailers with a new FREE website?

YES. For any retailer who does not have a website now then ShopNearBuy will be providing a new website for each retailer at no up-front cost.
If any retailer does have a website already but does not have any eCommerce capability (cannot sell their items on-line) then ShopNearBuy will also be providing a new eCommerce facility for each retailer at no up-front cost.
The only amount that ShopNearBuy will charge a retailer is a % fee on any orders processed through this new website. This fee covers the provision of the website with eCommerce capability, marketing &sales to drive orders to the retailer’s website and on-going support with the site.

Does a retailer have to commit to any minimum sales amount?

NO. If , for whatever unlikely reason, the retailer does not process any orders (e.g. if the shop was closed temporarily) then no sales commission will be charged. There are no charges other than a commission on orders processed through the ShopNearBuy site.

Who pays for this service?

There are a number of major business benefits of a same-day delivery service
it brings predictability that the order will be delivered to the consumer on the same-day that it is ordered.
This results in a far better service to consumers and a better buying experience.
Experience with same-day deliveries have shown that the level of packaging and preparation is far less onerous than with other forms of delivery. As the packages will be travelling point-to-point (direct from the retail premises to the consumer) there is less need for sophisticated package protection. There is also NO need for formal labelling of the package and any reasonable description of name and address of the consumer will be sufficient. This should help speed up order preparation.
Delivery costs do not tend to vary with the size and/or weight of the package – it’s normally a fixed cost for each package.
