Van Zellers Ruby Port Wine Portugal

The term ‘Ruby’ denotes a youthful and fruity style of Port.

The red-berry fruit aromas which characterize the style match the bright red colour which gave rise to the name ‘ruby’.

Most Ruby Port is a blend of selected young ports from multiple vintages. The Van Zeller Ruby is matured in large oak vats called ‘tonels’, which keeps its young red fruity characters of cherry and raspberry.

In the mouth it is full bodied and dense with clear tannins with some fruity nuances evocative of plum and black fruit jam.

Van Zellers have been crafting Port by hand since 1620. Making them the Oldest Port Wine Family in the world! Van Zellers & Co. was officially established in 1780 as an exporter of Port Wine by the first generation of Portuguese van Zellers. After being sold to other companies, in 2006 it was recovered by Cristiano Van Zeller, restoring the company to the family name.
